About Me

/Who Am I

I am more than a pediatric dentist; I am an advocate for the happiness and overall health of children. I strive to ensure that every child receives the care they deserve, regardless of their background or circumstances.

I provide parents & children with the educational information, necessary tools, and positive reinforcement to keep their smiles healthy as they grow. Each visit is crafted to be an enjoyable experience, infused with empathy and compassion. My goal is to ensure that every interaction is a step towards establishing mutual respect & reinforcing trust that develops into a lifetime of good oral health habits.

My approach extends beyond the confines of the dental chair. I am deeply committed to advocating for oral health at a broader level, engaging with policymakers to promote initiatives that prioritize the well-being of our community’s children. I actively participate in educational campaigns to spread awareness about the importance of maintaining optimal oral health.

I aim to create an environment where children not only maintain healthy smiles but also build positive associations with dental care that last a lifetime.

Pediatric Oral Health Statistics

1Tooth decay is the #1 top chronic disease in children; more common than asthma or childhood obesity
3333 out of 100 preschoolers living in America experience tooth decay, and those living in poverty have the highest prevalence of untreated dental caries.
3Children who have cavities in their baby teeth are 3 times more likely to get cavities in their adult teeth. Children with poor oral health are nearly 3 times more likely to miss school as a result of dental pain.
34Approximately 34 million school hours are lost each year due to dental problems. These children are also more likely to have lower school performance.

Services

/What I do

A full range of dental services in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental issues using preventive, interceptive, restorative, and/or rehabilitative measures. My treatment philosophy, utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to oral health. Including consults with primary care physicians and specialists to coordinate care through various clinical settings.

PREVENTION

My goal is to spare children from the discomfort of dental cavities. Following an assessment of their personalized cavity risk profile, recommendations are tailored to guide the frequency of preventive dental checkups, ensuring the maintenance of a healthy smile. These appointments involve comprehensive discussions of oral hygiene instructions, with a detailed demonstration of proper brushing and flossing techniques. Additionally, nutritional counseling is provided for effective cavity prevention, addressing habits related to healthy eating and drinking, and emphasizing on the reduction of sugary foods consumption. The primary focus is on explaining the tooth decay process and emphasizing strategies to minimize the risk of developing cavities.

SEDATION

Minimal sedation, often referred to as nitrous oxide or laughing gas, provides a mild level of anxiolysis, effectively reducing anxiety without inducing loss of consciousness in children. With minimal sedation, children remain responsive to verbal commands, and both their airway and cardiovascular function stay unaffected. On the other hand, moderate sedation, also known as “Conscious sedation,” involves the administration of a combination of oral medications approximately an hour before the procedure. These medications induce a sense of drowsiness and can be paired with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to adjust the sedative effect, ensuring a controlled and comfortable experience for the child during the dental procedure.

SPACE SAVING

A space maintainer is a dental appliance specifically designed to save space resulting from the early loss of a baby tooth. Some space maintainers are securely fixed within the oral cavity, while their removable counterparts resemble orthodontic retainers. The primary objective of these devices is to prevent neighboring teeth from shifting into the space left by a prematurely lost baby tooth. Strategically maintaining this space, helps ensure proper dental alignment, averting potential complications associated with the encroachment of adjacent teeth. This preventive measure is essential for fostering optimal oral health and reducing the risk for developing space loss issues and the need for more extensive corrective procedures in the future.

Hundreds of years from now, it will not matter how much was in my bank account, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove… but the world may be a better place because I was important in the life of a child.
